ThinCert™ cell culture inserts

ThinCert™ cell culture inserts with porous membrane supports are significant in that they form a two compartment system to readily mimic several in vivo situations and restore native cell growth conditions in vitro.

Different experimental setups may be used to study
(1) the migration and invasion of cells,
(2) the interaction and communication of physically separated cell populations,
(3) the trans-epithelial transport of substances and
(4) tissue growth and differentiation at the air-liquid-interface.

ThinCert™ cell culture inserts are available in multiple well formats (6, 12, 24 well) and membrane properties with nominal pore sizes of 0.4, 1.0, 3.0 and 8.0 µm. The specific features of ThinCert™ cell culture inserts, such as the hanging self-lift geometry and the large opening for pipette accessibility, guarantee their ease of handling. High quality standards during the process of manufacture assure an excellent reproducibility of results obtained with ThinCert™ cell culture inserts.

Recently, Greiner Bio-One introduced the ThinCert™Plate. This novel companion plate is specifically designed for the use with ThinCert™ cell culture inserts. The deep wells of this plate can hold a large volume of cell culture medium below the insert membrane, thus making it an optimum solution for organotypic culture and tissue reconstruction at the air-liquid-interphase.
